function resolveSymbol(symbol): number;

Experimental

Resolve a Plotly symbol (name like 'diamond-open-dot', numeric code, or numeric string) to its numeric code. Unknown symbols resolve to 0 (circle), like Plotly's fallback. Registered custom symbols (symbols) and text: glyphs resolve to internal codes of 1000 and up (custom.ts).
